About  Sophia

Sophia Kunkel is a literature-lovin’ college junior at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. She loves nature walks, has endless enthusiasm for the Beatles, and adores her mini Goldendoodle, Bielka {the space dog}.

Sophia is also a vivacious reader and a passionate writer; she self-published her first book through Barnes and Noble Press after completing high school. Starless Skies and Broken Dreams can be found on Barnes and Noble online, as well as Amazon. Her debut chapbook, Meandering Musings, is on Amazon.

Additionally, she volunteered with The Young Writers Initiative, an organization dedicated to serving young creative minds all over the world, for three years. To her, there is nothing more rewarding than allowing her actions to benefit someone in a positive way and she hopes to continue striving for this in future endeavors.

Sophia’s favorite books include Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Heartless by Marissa Meyer, and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, though she appreciates a wide array of reads. Check out her recommendations here!

And, lastly, she offers these parting words from Kurt Vonnegut: “Find a subject you care about and which you in your heart feel others should care about. It is this genuine caring, and not your games with language, which will be the most compelling and seductive element in your style.”
